Welcome to the PALS, Inc. Web Site

We hope the information on this Website answers basic questions about Personal Advocacy and Lifetime Support.

PALS Inc. is a non-profit organization started in 1998 by a small group of parents of adult sons and daughters with Developmental Disabilities in response to a conference at Clark University provided by Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network (PLAN). PLAN has been assisting parents in Canada provide a safe and secure future for their loved ones with special needs since 1988 through the development of enduring Personal Support Networks. (Check out their website @ PLAN.CA).

The mission of Personal Advocacy and Lifetime Support Inc. is to assist parents, family members, guardians, friends and other care givers to establish and maintain a lifetime plan for a safe and secure future for a loved one with disabilities. We review the plan each year, update changes and begin to assist the caregiver as personal advocacy issues become defined.

Most families have a natural support network that is maintained by the primary caregiver. At some point when the primary caregiver can no longer advocate on a daily basis, then PALS, Inc. is there to help. PALS Inc. recruits, trains and supervises Facilitators who work with families to maintain an existing support network or to create a new one. We continue the networks and maintain them into the future to assist siblings, guardians and/or trustees.
